In 2009, Blackbird was appointed by newly formed specialist training provider, IWA. Having spotted an opportunity to develop a unique training business within the UK automotive glazing market, the company needed to raise awareness and build credibility about its expertise in this highly specialised field of the automotive sector. Blackbird developed a comprehensive communications strategy from scratch and managed the launch of IWA, for which more than 50 people attended. Now recognised as the UK’s foremost authority on vehicle glazing training and the leading independent assessment centre for technician accreditation, IWA is also the only training provider offering apprenticeships in automotive glazing, which it helped to develop. Blackbird continues to manage all communications and marketing activity for the business, which rebranded to the Automotive Glazing Academy in November 2015, again managed by Blackbird. This includes media relations, social media, e-marketing, sponsorships, website management and events.
“We engaged Blackbird to launch IWA to the automotive glazing sector, including the introduction of a new brand, website and the development of a PR and communications strategy. Over the past six years that he’s been supporting us, Stuart has done a fantastic job. The exposure for IWA has been amazing and this has opened up a lot of new business opportunities. Blackbird has become an integral part of our company’s future, which has rebranded to the Automotive Glazing Academy in line with the rapid advance of technology in this sector.”
