Wayne’s world gets even better by winning keys to new car

31 October 2011

Just three months away from becoming a father for the first time, 29 year old Wayne Langton has won a brand new Honda CRZ hybrid sports car worth £16,000, thanks to a unique new promotion run by St Albans businesses, Brayley Honda on Hatfield Road and Worldwide Special Risks, based at Abbey Chambers in the city.

In a two month marketing campaign based at the Galleria outlet centre in Hatfield, more than 8,000 people took part in a free competition, which was the most successful ever held at the Galleria. Contestants were asked to select three locations on a grid in order to win the car. With odds of a winner as little as 20 to 1, Worldwide Special Risks insured the promotion, agreeing to pay for the car if someone struck lucky.

Electrician Wayne, whose partner Elizabeth Hills is expecting the couple’s first child in the spring, completed just one grid and was overwhelmed when he heard the news:

“We had gone to the Galleria for dinner when we found out that Elizabeth was pregnant and afterwards decided to walk round. She encouraged me to enter the competition and I couldn’t really believe it when I was told that my selections matched. I’ve never won anything in my life. It couldn’t have come at a better time, we are so lucky.”

Wayne collected the keys to his brand new Honda CRZ at Brayley Honda’s dealership from Karen Jennings, Manager at Worldwide Special Risks, who commented:

“Worldwide Special Risks was delighted to hand over the cheque for the car on behalf of insurers.  Our business is about taking on risk and when someone strikes lucky like Wayne, our clients, in this case The Galleria and Brayley Honda benefit, so we were delighted that this promotion had such a happy ending.”

Paul Brayley, Managing Director, Brayley Honda, said:

“We were very pleased to team up with Worldwide Special Risks on this innovative new promotion as it provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the Honda CRZ and for local businesses to collaborate in a high profile exercise. We were delighted at the response from shoppers at the Galleria and hope to undertake another such campaign in the future.”
